Winter Weather Advisory/Winter Storm WARNING Issued

1/22/19 10:15AM
UPDATE: 10:55AM<<Winter Storm Warning Issued for Whiteside until 9AM>>
-Forecast-
Expect freezing rain/drizzle through the morning hours and part of the afternoon. We’ll likely be sitting right on the wintry mix line throughout the afternoon hours. Some rain and/or flurries may be possible as well, but overall expect this freezing drizzle and rain to continue until the evening hours.

Model guidance suggests our precipitation will switch to rain after dark as warmer air enters the area. Then, as cold air begins to settle in, precipitation will begin to switch to sleet/snow late tonight. A very sharp cutoff exists for any snow accumulation overnight based upon the final track of the low. Due to this, more updates are needed. Some areas may receive no snow, while some could receive up to 1-4″.

To our north lies a winter storm warning (Ogle/Carroll Counties and northward) where higher snowfall accumulations are possible on the scale of 4-6″. With our area being in the uncertainty zone, we will need to continue to push updates through the afternoon and evening to fine tune our snow chances.

Right now, our concern is the freezing rain/drizzle that is occurring and accumulating on all surfaces.
