The National Weather Service has extended a Winter Weather ADVISORY until 10am Friday for Lee and Whiteside Counties.
Freezing rain and snow have come to an end, but increasing winds overnight combined with falling temperatures will lead to wet pavement freezing up. Ice accumulation remaining on powerlines will also increase the chances for scattered power outages with the strong winds.
Treat all wet-looking pavement with extreme caution.
Wind chills will also be dangerously low at times into Friday morning, approaching -20 to -25 degrees. If you must venture out, leave as little exposed skin as possible and make sure you have a winter weather survival kit in your vehicle.
