A Winter Weather Advisory for both Lee and Whiteside Counties is in effect until 6pm Saturday.
This morning and early afternoon will remain quiet with cloudy skies. By 2/3pm this afternoon, light to moderate snow will overspread the region and continue until around midnight. At that point we’ll see a transition to sleet, freezing rain, and rain through 3am, followed by all rain around sunrise. Another transition back to snow is expected by mid-morning Saturday as colder air works in behind this system.
Total snow accumulations of at least one to two inches will be likely. This will be the heavy/wet variety bringing more impacts to travel. Total ice accumulations of less than two tenths of an inch will also be likely in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday.
If you plan on traveling later this afternoon through much of Saturday morning, leave extra time to reach your destination.
