Winter Weather Advisory 9pm Monday – 9am Tuesday

UPDATED 2/29 5:00PM CST

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued beginning at 9pm this evening until 9am Tuesday morning.

SevereNEW

Areas of rain, sleet, and snow will develop over the area this evening changing to all snow through the overnight hours. The heaviest snow is expected to remain just to the north of the area across extreme northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin where amounts of 4 inches or more are likely to be seen. Here closer to home amount of 2-4 inches are generally expected depending on how the precipitation transition works out. If we receive more rain/sleet at onset amounts may be slightly less but at this time 2-4″ is a solid bet. Snow continues through Tuesday morning with hazardous travel conditions expected before tapering off in the early afternoon. Winds will be quite gusty throughout the overnight hours and during the day on Tuesday which may reduce visibilities at times in the heavier snow bands. Make sure and use caution if you have to travel late tonight through early Tuesday.
