A Winter Storm WARNING has been issued for Whiteside and Lee Counties in effect Sunday morning through Sunday evening.
Moderate to heavy snow will be likely by late Sunday morning continuing into the afternoon before ending early Sunday evening. Total accumulations of 5-8 inches will be likely significantly reducing visibility and creating dangerous travel conditions.
Winds will quickly increase by Sunday afternoon with gusts over 40 MPH at times creating areas of blowing and drifting snow.
If you must travel, make sure your car is equipped with a full tank of gas and a winter survival kit should you become stranded.
Snow will quickly taper off by the early evening hours with improving road conditions likely for Monday morning.
