November weather can literally bring everything including the kitchen sink as a strong storm system brought high winds and even a few tornadoes to the region Thursday. Believe it or not parts of Iowa actually saw some snowflakes from this storm! Our main story has been the winds as the strongest occurred very early Thursday morning around 4am with a 52 MPH gust at the Whiteside County Airport in Rock Falls while Clinton had the most impressive reading at 66 MPH. The wind will relax some today but gusts around 30 to 35 MPH can still be expected at least through the first half of the day. We’ll remain cool this afternoon even with the return of sunshine as colder air continues to filter behind the system. Highs will be in the upper 40s.
This upcoming weekend is looking really nice, especially Saturday as we decrease the winds even more and keep the full sunshine around. Highs should easily attain the middle 50s with a light southeast breeze. Sunday isn’t too shabby either as we start out with sunshine in the morning followed by increasing clouds later in the day along with the return of some gusty wind. Still warm though with highs in the middle to upper 50s.
Several chances for rain return next week as another storm system gathers. This one will have some wind with it as well but too early to get into much detail as it is still several days into the future. Something to keep an eye on as we head into the later half of the weekend.
Have a great weekend!
