Warmer & More Humid Monday

Storms early this morning brought sub-severe wind gusts with the stronger storms heading just to the west across portions of eastern Iowa. Thankfully we were spared much of the higher wind coverage, especially with the potential that was advertised much of the morning and afternoon leading up to the event. Thanks for getting the word out so that people were well prepared.

Some lingering cloud cover will break up after the noon hour giving us mostly sunny skies. The added moisture from last this mornings storms will likely add to the humidity levels today making it quite uncomfortable. Highs into the middle to upper 80s are likely with heat index values in the lower to middle 90s.

A stray shower or storm is possible this afternoon and evening but as of right now the better storm chances will exist to the south and east of the area. No severe weather is expected.

Severe thunderstorm potential will likely remain out of the area for the remainder of the day and into the overnight hours as a warm front lifts north of the area, providing a capping inversion aloft that will likely suppress additional storm development.
