Unsettled Weekend…Heavy Rainfall Potential Next Week

We’re going into our second day of sunshine across the area with clear skies expected to continue this morning before a few clouds arrive for the afternoon hours. Temperatures will really get a boost today with all of the sunshine and an added southerly wind component. Both of these elements will help us reach over the 80 degree mark this afternoon.

Unfortunately like the saying says all good things must come to an end and that will be the case for this weekend as an approaching cold front brings chances of showers and thunderstorms by Saturday afternoon. With the increase in cloud covers temperatures will be slightly cooler with highs in the upper 60s. This cold front will stall out to the south of the area keeping the shower and thunderstorm chances with us through most of next week. Sunday will not be a complete washout as we will have some dry hours at times with chances increasing towards Sunday evening.

With this stalled out frontal boundary and periodic disturbances moving along it there is some heavy rain potential that does exist for the first part of next week with a widespread soaking likely. Some spots could potentially pick up a few inches before the pattern is all said and done. Keep the umbrella handy! Temperatures will remain in the 60s and 70s next week.

Have a great weekend!
