UPDATED: Tornado Watch Until 11pm

UPDATE: The watch has been allowed to expire. The severe weather threat has ended.

 

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch valid for both Lee and Whiteside counties until 11pm this evening.

Scattered thunderstorms will continue to develop and race northeastward over the area during the next several hours. A few of these storms will likely become severe producing isolated tornadoes, damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 MPH and large hail greater than 1 inch in diameter.

Strong Tornadoes: Low
Large Hail: Moderate
Damaging Winds: Moderate

4pm-10pm

Bottom Line: Storm motion will be very fast, in upwards of 40 to 50 miles per hour so make sure and take immediate shelter should your location be placed under a warning.
