Another warm day expected across the area after hitting 86 degrees at the Rock Falls airport yesterday afternoon. It appears we will come close if not above that number again by this afternoon as a brisk south wind continues to draw warmer air in with plenty of sunshine expected too.
As Tim mentioned yesterday we are keeping an eye on the potential for some stronger thunderstorms on Tuesday onward as an active pattern sets up over the area. Growing instability and any forcing mechanism that can manage to move through the area could set off some rough weather periodically through the rest of the week. The devil is in the details as several small-scale features will be driving these storm events so pay close attention to upcoming forecasts as we progress through the week.
The concern for heavy rainfall is also present as a good amount of moisture will be arriving from the gulf. Starting Tuesday you will begin to notice a definite increase in moisture as the seasons first “humid” days arrive. Don’t be surprised if you hear some A/C units humming by mid-week!
I’ll have your full work-week forecast Tuesday morning. Make it a great Monday!
