Strong storms remain possible this afternoon as a cold front will be approaching the area from the west later this afternoon and evening. A very warm and moist atmosphere will be in place over the area leading to high areas of instability that have the potential to fuel some stronger storms. Right now the current timing is for later this afternoon and evening. Current thinking suggests that convection to our west late this morning will continue to weaken. This afternoon more thunderstorm development is expected to the west on a scattered basis before consolidating into a larger complex that will bring with it the threat of damaging winds, large hail, isolated tornadoes, and very heavy rainfall.
We’ll pass along any watches/warnings as they are issued. Make sure and stay weather aware through the afternoon and evening hours and be prepared to seek shelter in a sturdy structure if required.
