Staying Mild into the Weekend…Briefly Colder Next Week

Nice to see some sunshine back in these parts yesterday after several days filled with cloud cover after our latest storm system departed from earlier in the week. We couldn’t even manage to get a dusting of snow from that system which I’m sure is ok with many of you :).  We did manage however to pick up just slightly over half of an inch of rainfall and some sleet as some embedded thunderstorms passed through.

Mild temperatures will be with us not only today but all throughout the upcoming weekend with plenty of sunshine continuing until at least Sunday. The weak system that brought a slight increase to our cloud cover yesterday has departed so expect more in the way of sunshine today with a few passing clouds from time to time. Highs remaining in the lower 30s.

Saturday will begin a robust warming trend as sun and clouds continue and highs reach for the middle 30s. A weak disturbance and associated cold front approaches the area Sunday cranking up the winds out of the south and pushing much warmer air into the area. Clouds will be on the increase throughout the day with a few light showers possible late but temperatures will respond nicely reaching the lower 40s.

Unfortunately what goes up must come down and as the front moves through early on Monday temperatures will begin to tumble with a few snow showers possible. Not expecting much in terms of accumulation with these. Winds will continue to strengthen with gusts over 40 MPH possible as highs only reach the upper teens by Tuesday with low wind chill values. Thankfully this bout of cold weather won’t stick around long as a warming trend begins as early as Thursday lasting through the rest of next week.

Have a great weekend!
