Showers & Storms Return…Muggies As Well!

Showers and thunderstorms are back in the picture today ahead of an approaching disturbance that will lead to the return of heat and humidity for the upcoming weekend. We could see two rounds, one this morning and then another round later this afternoon and evening if we can get enough sunshine to destabilize the atmosphere. The Storm Prediction Center has our area outlooked for a Marginal Risk of severe weather. A few severe storms do appear possible if we can get some sunshine during the late morning and afternoon hours. The main threats with the stronger storms will be large hail and damaging winds. Highs will remain cooler today with the rainfall and cloud cover, reaching the lower 80s.

Friday the warm front moves north of the area and the sunshine returns along with the humidity. Highs will reach for the upper 80s to around 90, though with the increased humidity levels it will feel more like the middle to upper 90s.

The upcoming weekend continues to look very warm and humid, with Saturday remaining dry as our atmosphere won’t be supportive of thunderstorm development, that comes on Sunday ahead of an approaching cold front. Still some timing issues to work out with this, but right now later Sunday could get pretty stormy. We’ll fine tune the details over the next couple of days. Drier and cooler weather expected for the first part of next week just in time for Summer Fest in Sterling.

Have a great weekend!
