3:30PM UPDATE: Whiteside county has been removed from the watch. Lee county remains in the severe thunderstorm watch until 10pm.
The severe threat continues to decrease across the area late this afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm WATCH until 10pm for both Lee and Whiteside Counties.
Timing: 2pm-5pm
Threats:
Large Hail: Moderate – Up to 2″ possible.
Damaging Winds: Moderate – a few gusts up to 75 MPH possible.
Tornadoes: Low – A couple of tornadoes possible.
Discussion: Scattered thunderstorms will continue to develop over the area this afternoon with a few strong storms possible. The highest threat remains large hail with damaging winds and an isolated tornado or two a secondary threat.
As the storms progress east this afternoon the threat will likely concentrate towards damaging winds.
