Severe Storms Possible Saturday

10:00AM

An Enhanced Risk (Level 3/5) of severe storms is currently forecast for the area today.

This morning, scattered thunderstorms have developed to our south and west. These storms will continue to move northeast through the late morning posing mainly a hail and heavy rainfall risk.

By the early afternoon, additional storm development will likely take place around the Quad Cities with these storms quickly lifting north and east through the afternoon.

An area of low pressure and an associated warm front will provide the needed dynamics for severe storm development, including the threat of a few tornadoes.

This threat will be highest for points north and east of the Quad Cities through roughly 6/7pm this evening.

Additional threats include gusty winds and very large hail.

Make sure and remain weather aware as we head through the early afternoon and evening. Be prepared to seek shelter should a warning be issued for your area.

More updates throughout the day as the situation unfolds.
