Quiet Today…Potentially Stormy Wednesday

Temperatures will continue an upward climb this afternoon gaining several degrees compared to yesterday that should push the area into the upper 70s with sunny skies. We’ll have less wind to content with as well.

A very active pattern still looks to resume by Wednesday which will mark the beginning of several chances for showers and thunderstorms. Some stronger storms are possible Wednesday afternoon and evening. Details on what hazards these storms may present are still rather muddy and will be clarified over the next 12 hours.

Right now the higher risk for more widespread severe storms is just to our immediate west over much of Iowa where all modes of severe weather are possible. Heavy rains will certainly be likely with any storm as a very moisture rich atmosphere will be in place easily producing rainfall totals of an inch or more in a short period of time.

We’ll have further updates regarding the severe threat as model data becomes clearer closer to the event.
