The clouds moved in quickly by late afternoon yesterday all ahead of a cold front that sparked a few scattered showers and thunderstorms. Not much rain came out of these with most places picking up less than a tenth of an inch but a pretty nice shower for any remaining plants you may have outside. Now that the front has cleared well east of the area we’ll be seeing cooler readings for our high temperatures today as winds will be out of the northwest ushering in another cool Canadian air mass. With plenty of sunshine it will feel pretty nice by the afternoon as highs reach for the lower 60s.
Another warm up is on the way for this weekend as high pressure slides off to the east. By late Saturday and especially during the day on Sunday we’ll draw our winds back from the south again bringing in much warmer temperatures. In fact, we could see another 80 by Sunday! Saturday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the upper 60s. Sunday we’ll warm up even more with plenty of sunshine and highs around 80.
By the time we reach Monday (Columbus Day) another front will be approaching the area, however moisture and forcing is very weak so only some clouds are expected at this time. Highs will be I n the lower 70s. Overall a great weekend for those of you lucky folks that have all three days off. Get out and enjoy it!
Don’t forget to check out the Harvest Moon Festival going on Saturday from 8a-noon in downtown Sterling (Avenue A). There will be plenty of activities for kids and adults. Visit facebook.com/twincityfarmersmarket for more information.
Looking farther into the future things will continue to be mild and dry around these parts, with no major systems set to impact the area until possibly late next week. Overall though some great weather expected. Don’t forget the fall colors will be peaking come late next week!
Have a great holiday weekend!
