Mild Again Today…Windy Wednesday

What a wind storm we managed to get ourselves into late last week as the Whiteside County Airport weather station measured a gust of 55 MPH and several other regional sites were also in the 55-60 MPH range causing a few semi accidents on area roadways. Now that the wind is past we’ve been experiencing a nice spring preview as temperatures have remained above normal over the last few days.

Yesterday we managed to top out in the middle 40s with periods of sunshine and I expect the same for today plus a few degrees. Winds will remain light so if you are in the sun it will feel really nice.

You may have seen several posts online regarding a potential winter storm that is expected to form to the south of the area. As of now the models continue to keep the storm far enough south that the only impacts we’ll realize here will tend to be gusty winds around 30-35 MPH at times on Wednesday and perhaps a few snow showers. Thankfully the accumulating snow will remain to the east and west with this system which means our temperatures will remain tolerable.

Temperatures behind the system will be a bit cooler for Thursday but nothing we can’t handle as highs drop to the middle 30s. By the time we head towards the weekend a warming trend begins with temperatures approaching 50 by Saturday with dry conditions continuing. Great timing!
