The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a Heat Advisory for Whiteside county until 8pm Friday.
Heat index values this afternoon have already reached the lower 100s across the area and the next several days are expected to also see similar values, up to 105° at times.
If you must be outdoors for prolonged periods of time make sure to drink plenty of water, wear lightweight, loose fitting clothing and take frequent breaks in the shade / A/C.
Also make sure to pay extra attention to the elderly and pets that may be more susceptible to the heat.
