You’ll notice more humidity today as temperatures rise into the lower 90s creating heat index values of 100 to 105 by this afternoon. A Heat Advisory has been issued for Whiteside County from 1pm to 7pm this evening.
The active storm track that has remained well to the north of the area will begin to sink a bit more southward by this evening. This will drive increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms, especially after 6pm. A marginal risk for severe weather is currently forecast with the main threats being damaging winds and torrential downpours.
We will continue to see storm chances through the upcoming weekend on a scattered basis. The severe threat is quite low but, some heavy rainfall will be possible. Storm chances will be mainly confined to the afternoon hours with temperatures in the upper 80s.
