Fog Early…Warming Still Ahead

Those stubborn clouds really held our temperatures down yesterday as areas that did experience some sunshine just to the west of the Mississippi River jumped into the middle 40s for highs.

The overall pattern continues to favor dry conditions through the first part of the weekend with a slight chance of showers on Sunday, followed by more warmth and dry conditions that will persist for much of next week. not bad for December! This is all in part to the main jet stream staying well to the north of the area keeping the bitter cold far removed from the area leaving us with mild temperatures.

We’ll have to deal with not only the clouds today but some early morning fog as well. Depending on when the clouds and fog move out we should get warmer in the temperature department today reaching at least into the middle 40s if not higher depending on the amount of sunshine.

Conditions are looking pretty nice for the Dixon Christmas Walk this evening with mild temperatures in the middle 30s at the start and little in the way of wind to deal with. Make sure and check that out if you can there will be lots of free activities for everyone and a lot of local businesses will be open as well.

Warming will continue through the weekend with full sunshine expected Saturday that will help boost highs to near 50.

Models are still struggling with some potential showers on Sunday. Some are dry and others continue to throw in a chance for some light precipitation. At this time safe to say plenty of clouds will be around with isolated showers keeping temperatures just slightly cooler in the middle 40s.

Next week looking warm and dry as temperatures continue to warm nearing 50 degrees several days. Next organized storm system looks to impact the area later in the week with rain and possibly even some thunderstorms. Are we really in December? 🙂
