10:00P UPDATE: The Flash Flood WATCH has been cancelled for Whiteside county.
3:15PM UPDATE: Lee county is now under a Flash Flood WATCH until 10AM Thursday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood WATCH until 7AM Thursday for Whiteside county, and 10AM Thursday for Lee county.
Heavy rain producing thunderstorms have already put down rainfall amounts of 2 inches or more across the county with more heavy rainfall possible from thunderstorms that may develop later this evening and through the overnight hours.
A Flash Flood WATCH means that conditions are favorable for very heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding and rapid rises on area creeks and streams. If you come upon a flooded roadway remember to turn around and never cross it no matter how shallow the water may appear.
