Flash Flood WATCH for Lee County until 6AM Friday

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Flash Flood WATCH for Lee county until 6AM Friday.

Due to the saturated ground from this mornings thunderstorm activity and the anticipation of further thunderstorms later this evening, there is concern that additional rainfall could cause more flash flooding across the area. Storms again overnight tonight will have the potential to produce very heavy rainfall rates in excess of 2 inches per hour at times. Repeated storm activity will likely lead to flash flooding.

Remember, never cross a flooded roadway no matter how shallow the water may be, especially at night. Be prepared to move to higher ground if you live near a rapidly rising creek or stream, or within a severely flood prone area.
