A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Whiteside County until 2AM Thursday. at 7:55PM Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen, and flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. Some areas include Sterling, Rock Falls, Morrison, Fulton, Prophetstown, Erie, Tampico. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area through 9:30PM. Remember, turn around don’t drown.
If you do experience flash flooding, please report it to your local sheriffs or police station, or call the local National Weather Service. Do not put your life in danger. Flash flooding can also cause mud slides which can happen in seconds leaving little time to react.
