Excessive Heat Warning

By now everyone should have had some time to prepare for the excessive heat that is upon us for Thursday and Friday. An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for the area from noon Thursday to 7PM Friday. Temperatures for both days are expected to remain in the mid 90s with heat index values ranging between 105 and 115 degrees.

An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued to extend into Saturday expiring by 7PM for Whiteside County.

With that, an Excessive Heat Watch has also been issued for Lee County from 7PM Friday to 3PM Saturday. Temperatures once again are possible in the low to mid 90s with possible heat index values reaching between 102-108 degrees.

 

HWATCH

 

Be sure to take precautions during this excessive heat Thursday, Friday, and possibly Saturday. Temperatures this high may lead to heat related illnesses with prolonged exposure if outside. Limit your activities outside if possible, and reschedule any demanding work or activities for the early morning or late evening hours. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 9-1-1. Remember, do not leave children and/or pets unattended in a vehicle under any circumstances. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in minutes.
