A big shock to the system in terms of our temperature change over the last couple of days as a strong area of low pressure sent a much cooler air-mass into the area on it’s backside along with very gusty winds and a few rain/sleet (and in some cases snow) showers during the day yesterday. Not really a huge amount of precipitation but just enough to wet the pavement. However some needed rainfall did occur with this system was we saw over three quarters of an inch from Tuesday and Wednesday inching us closer to the average mark for the month of October.
We’ve got one more rain chance before we close this month out and it will make for a weekend that will be half nice and half not so nice.
For today look for a slight decrease in the cloud cover with a few peaks of sunshine expected. Winds will be much lighter today too compared to the gusts we saw Wednesday and yesterday, only around 10 MPH today. Temperatures will recover nicely too as we end up in the middle 50s compared to the middle 40s yesterday…brrr!
Friday evening is looking cool but dry as our next rain chance organizes to the southwest of the region. For those towns trick or treating this evening expect some clouds and temperatures holding near 50.
Saturday however is a different story as another trough of low pressure advances towards the area providing another chance for some light rain. The main timing of the precip looks to be after midnight lasting until very early in the evening Saturday. With all the clouds and rain around temps won’t get too far, only the lower 50s. Rainfall amounts from this system will be lighter compared to the last one, ranging around a quarter of an inch as the best dynamics are to the north and south of the area. Right now it appears the bulk of the rain should get out of here by 5PM or so just in time for those towns that are participating in trick or treating. Just beware of those wet slippery leaves on the pavement and throughout area yards.
Now comes the bright spot: SUNDAY! Looking absolutely beautiful as we return to increased sunshine and warmer temperatures in the 60s! In fact, this warming trend will actually stick with us through much of next week with a 70 or two not out of the question. We continue to be spoiled :).
Have a great and safe Halloween weekend!
