Cooler Today…Storms Return Wednesday

Clouds and showers across the area this morning will help keep our temperatures cooler than what we saw yesterday as the clouds are expected to continue into the late morning and very early afternoon hours. Our severe weather threat has decreased and shifted further to the south of the area as better ingredients come together across portions of Missouri.  Partly sunny conditions are expected this afternoon with an outside chance of a scattered shower or storm. Highs will be in the middle 80s.

Tonight mild conditions remain over the area with a few scattered showers and storms. Lows in the lower 70s.

Wednesday attention turns to an approaching cold front which will increase chances for severe weather here locally by the afternoon and evening hours. Currently the Storm Prediction Center has the region in a Slight Risk for severe storms. Timing would be during the afternoon and evening hours with the main threats being damaging winds and perhaps isolated tornadoes. Wednesday’s severe weather setup is highly dependent on what happens tonight and tomorrow morning so stay tuned to later forecasts concerning the severe weather potential for tomorrow as it is likely to change. The heat and humidity will return especially by the afternoon with highs near 90 degrees and heat indices over 100.

Once the front moves through we finally get back into the comfort zone with temperatures on both Thursday and Friday looking great! An active pattern resumes for the second half of the upcoming weekend and into early next week with more heat, humidity, and, you guessed it, showers and thunderstorms.
