Cold Weekend…Snow Potential Monday

Winter has returned after a substantial break for the majority of the season. We’re off to a very cold start this morning with temperatures in the lower teens and gusty northwest winds creating wind chills in the lower teens.

The gusty winds stay with us for most of the day so even with full sunshine expected this afternoon it will still feel very chilly outside. Bundle up!

We’re still watching a storm system that will arrive on Monday. At this time the amount of energy and moisture associated with it could combine to bring the area’s first accumulating snowfall in some 80 days. We’ll post accumulation potential maps on Saturday evening once the models come into better agreement.

Our colder pattern will stick around for about a week before we’ll move some much warmer air back up into the region as we head into next weekend. The pattern will turn a bit more active before that transition with another potential for rain by late next week.

A reminder Daylight Saving Time returns this Sunday morning.

Have a great Friday!
