We are finally going to get a break from some rain, clouds, and humidity for awhile. A lot of rain has fallen over the last couple of weeks across the area resulting in flash flooding along with river flooding in areas. If you haven’t check out our drone coverage of the Rock River on Sunday which showed multiple areas of the flooding.
A Flood Warning does remain in effect for the Rock River at Como in Whiteside County. It is expected to start decreasing this morning.
For today, we are clearing up the sky. A few clouds may remain however, more sunshine is expected today along with very low humidity levels which will keep our temperatures feeling what that thermometer suggests! High today around 83 with a northeast breeze around 12MPH. Tonight, temperatures will fall near 60 degrees allowing for a very cool night.
Did you receive a lot of rain last night? Our unofficial observations around the area brought in some pretty impressive totals with that system that moved through slowly yesterday. Amboy and Dixon received over one inch of rain.
We’re not the only one who received a lot of rain though overnight. The Kansas City metro area received around 7 inches of rainfall overnight alone due to training storms that produced very heavy rainfall. Many road closures and a lot of water standing on the roadways across the city and suburbs.
Check out our weekend forecast! Continuing with dry conditions through the weekend along with very comfortable temperatures in the lower 80s, and plenty of sunshine! Start making your plans!
Beyond the weekend we won’t see any sign or decent chances of rain. A possible chance for a thunderstorm enters the forecast Wednesday, but as of now it’s not something to get to excited for. Keeping temperatures in the low to mid 80s for the beginning part of the week, and keeping some of that humidity down as well.
