A Wrench in the Forecast Today! (A Weatherman’s Nightmare)

A complex of thunderstorms that formed overnight in the Dakotas and parts of Minnesota has manged to maintain strength late this morning and by all appearances will be impacting our forecast today.

You can see it on radar plowing through much of eastern Iowa and while it does show signs of weakening it will lead to more cloud cover across the area and lower high temperatures. If the line can maintain itself showers and thunderstorms will be possible after 2pm. No severe weather is expected though some gusty winds are possible. Once this moves out the overnight will be dry but cloudy and muggy.

This storm complex is a sign of the pattern we will be transitioning to for much of the beginning of the week as periodic storm clusters will be impacting the area from time to time.

Severe chances increase by Tuesday as the Storm Prediction Center has already placed the entire area under a slight risk for severe storms. Tim & I will have more details as they become clearer with newer data.

Until then keep that umbrella handy this afternoon!
