Mild Two Days…Colder This Weekend

Happy Valentine’s Day! We hope you enjoy the day with your significant other. If not, Happy “Singles Awareness” Day

Warmer temperatures continue to filter into the region today with highs pushing over 40. That will start the melting process with our snow pack but we have quite a ways to go before much of it disappears. Areas of fog that could be dense in spots will form overnight along with periods of drizzle into Thursday. We’ll still be warm then, too but the colder air will filter back in by Friday.

Next week will be worth watching as an active storm track will set up shop over the Midwest. An unusually high amount of moisture looks to be present that could lay down some hefty precipitation totals. We’ll continue to monitor that situation as we head into the weekend.

Andrew Stutzke was born and raised in beautiful Sterling, Illinois. As a young child, he was continually fascinated by the weather, especially thunderstorms. Often times he could be found glued to the television watching The Weather Channel. Upon entering high school it was clear what his area of study would be once he started college. After graduating from Sterling High School in 2004, he attended Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, Illinois where he received his Associate of Science degree in 2010. In 2016 he received his B.S. in Meteorology from Northern Illinois University.

Andrew is currently the Friday and Saturday evening meteorologist at WIFR-TV in Rockford, IL.

In his spare time, Andrew enjoys listening to the latest Alt-Rock and Indie music, storm spotting, walking the many paths around the area, and spending time with family.
