Dangerous Wind Chills Through Tuesday Morning

The combination of the fresh snow-cover on the ground and another strong area of high pressure with arctic origins will produce dangerously low wind chill values this weekend and even into early next week.

A Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for Whiteside county until 9pm Sunday for Whiteside County, and from 9pm Monday until 12pm Tuesday for Lee County.

A Wind Chill WARNING has been issued for Whiteside county from 9pm Sunday until 12pm Tuesday.

An hour-by-hour of the wind chill forecast below shows dangerous values for Monday morning and again Tuesday morning as wind chills will dip close to -30 at times. Frostbite will occur in less than 30 minutes in these conditions.

Stay indoors if at all possible during these times. If you must travel, make sure you have a winter weather survival kit in your vehicle.

Often times he could be found glued to the television watching The Weather Channel. Upon entering high school it was clear what his area of study would be once he started college. After graduating from Sterling High School in 2004, he attended Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, Illinois where he received his Associate of Science degree in 2010. In 2016 he received his B.S. in Meteorology from Northern Illinois University.

Andrew is currently the Friday and Saturday evening meteorologist at WIFR-TV in Rockford, IL.
